Welcoming Sheila Kearney to Briljent

By Adam Hayden

Summary

We are thrilled to welcome Sheila Kearney to our operations leadership team at Briljent! Sheila brings a career shaped by the intersection of people, policy, and technology. In this post, we’ll share a bit more about Sheila, the experience she brings to Briljent, and why we’re so excited for the impact she’ll have on our team and our clients.

A Strategic Leader in Health Innovation

Sheila brings over 40 years of experience leading complex technology and operational initiatives, including over two decades dedicated to health and human services. Her background spans both the public and private sectors—from  hospitals and state agencies to large-scale vendors and consulting firms. That kind of range gives her a uniquely well-rounded view of the systems, strategies, and people shaping health innovation. It also provides valuable insights into the policy and operational challenges faced by state agencies, health information exchanges, payers, and provider organizations.

Sheila’s leadership includes overseeing project management offices, optimizing procurement and vendor engagement, and guiding the successful implementation of complex IT systems. She has driven major transformation efforts at organizations such as the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services. Her work has always focused on aligning technology with mission-driven goals, such as modernizing infrastructure, improving care delivery, and boosting organizational performance.

Notably, she served as Chief Systems Information Officer for the Mississippi Division of Medicaid, where she led critical IT modernization and compliance initiatives. Her hands-on experience with government systems and regulatory frameworks equips her to help our clients streamline operations, ensure compliance, and effectively adopt the latest technological advancements.

What This Means for Our Clients

Sheila joins Briljent at a time when our clients are tackling increasingly complex challenges—from integrating care delivery and data systems to implementing policy reforms and improving service outcomes.

Her leadership strengthens our ability to meet clients where they are and help them move forward with clarity and confidence. With Sheila on board, our clients will be even better positioned to:

  • Navigate policy shifts and regulatory complexity
  • Align health IT initiatives with strategic and programmatic goals
