Who We Are

Behind every successful work endeavor is a high-performing team. Briljent specializes in helping people improve their workplace performance through individual and organizational growth.

We have deep expertise in developing the skills and knowledge of workers in government, private and non-profit sectors, and wide understanding of social services, education and healthcare topics, as well as specialized expertise in Health Information Technology.

We began our business in 1998, and have grown continuously ever since. However, while business success is important, what really drives us is our commitment to helping others succeed. We want to put our heads on the pillow each night knowing we’ve accomplished something worthwhile. We believe firmly that if this passion for making a contribution comes first, business success will follow.

At age 40 I started Briljent, an entrepreneur like my father. The initial years were tumultuous. My husband and I funded the start-up with our retirement savings and our funds were quickly spent. During those lean start-up years, I found out a few things about myself that I never really knew - I am adept in solving client problems and I do not give up. These traits served Briljent well as I introduced our firm to Fortune 500 companies and learned how government entities procure training. Today Briljent has a strong national presence and several deep areas of expertise. I am good at taking care of our employees, gardening, cooking, writing, and grandparenting. I am not good at jumping, golf, piano or French but that doesn't stop me. Contact Kathy: kcarrier@briljent.com Luminous Fund Web site: http://theluminousfund.com/

Bringing the most talented people in the industry to Briljent is a passion of mine. My philosophy is that working with the best and brightest keeps Briljent on the cutting edge of creating value for our clients. Our shared goal for continuous improvement feeds the vision for our company to be the absolute best at what we do. I believe it is my job to nurture the environment where that vision is reality. With a mixed level of expertise, I love to make short films, build lean-to’s, get coffee with my wife and root on the Cubs. If you have an opportunity for Briljent (or parenting advice) contact Matt: modum@briljent.com

I want all of my internal team to understand as much as we can about what clients need and what's right for them. I like the flexibility inherent in a company our size, our ability to be agile, and to change to accommodate our clients’ needs. Where we can provide true value is in our people. It is the only thing that differentiates you: how good your people are. We are only as good as the team we have. We have some of the most dedicated and passionate people in the industry and we want to become the best across all kinds of verticals or industries. Building subject matter expertise in many markets is important to us, as well as building our qualifications and expanding into many new areas. To grow at the rates we've grown is not luck. It's continuing to meet clients’ needs and to meet the right needs. We have high client retention, and that's important to us.

The work we do at Briljent impacts people’s lives in real ways. In healthcare, you really can see the need to have training that is comprehensible, training that explains why changes are happening and why they can be beneficial. We try to tie our work back to some greater good. Where we differ from our competitors is that we really do put the human touch into our work. I think back to one particular Medicare project, for which we requested pictures of Medicare-aged relatives, and started running those on a screen. It was enriching to put faces to the people we help every day. We also directly impact the people we employ at Briljent. We understand that life just sometimes gets in the way, and that our employees value the flexibility to overcome obstacles. Furthermore, we seek individuals who take this flexibility and apply it to the work they do. So often, we have to shift quickly from one project to another. When the next project comes in, we hit the ground running.

A lot of the work we do with Medicaid directly impacts the communities we live and work in. It affects the people we know, socialize with, and work with. Our employees have the opportunity to support and engage in these communities as well, extending our efforts further. The solutions Briljent provides is helping people do what they do better. We’re not just selling a commodity; we are improving how people do their jobs and how companies perform. We are giving each of them the tools to do their jobs better. As a sales leader, we have big revenue goals, but we also want to maintain a culture where people want to come to work, enjoy what they are doing, and work with customers that we enjoy and like working with. It’s important that we never become satisfied with where we are currently at. Knowing we can always be even better tomorrow. If we do that, the future will take care of itself.

I came to Briljent for three reasons: the culture, the work product and the growth potential. I've spent most of my career committed to public Health IT programs and was surprised to learn just how much Briljent is involved in these initiatives. I view my capacity with Briljent as a natural continuation of my passion for HIT initiatives, and am truly excited to add experience to Briljent's training, project management and change management services.
